“Develop world-top marina club for Busan North Port”
Tuesday, January 10, 2012, 12:16:08 Paul Yoon ckyoon7@paran.com
Marina club complex for Busan North Port (BNP) under its redevelopment plan will be built to the world top-standard. Busan Port Authority (BPA) opened a ceremony at Lotte Hotel, Busan, on Jan. 9th, declaring “Vision for Marina Club Project (MCP) under BNP Redevelopment Plan” attended by Arthur Tay, chairman of SUTL Group, a global marina developer and operator.

On the day, SUTL Group announced that it plans to build a world-top marina club complex at BNP under BNP Redevelopment Plan after the model of One Degree 15 Marina Club, Singapore (One 15 Marina) and will bring it up to the world-top class. To this end, SUTL will invest KW 65 billion at BNP, backed up by its know-how and experiences gained with One 15 Marina at Singapore, the world-top class, to build by 2014 and operate diversified marina club complex including club houses, anchoring berths on area of 99,000 square km to accommodate 200 yachts, yacht academy houses and other related facilities.

SUTL will also obtain an ISO certification on the marina club facilities, elevating its service and clients’ satisfaction to the world-top class. They will be further tested objectively by the users of yachts through “Gold Anchor” certified by The Yacht Harbour Association of UK (TYHA). Besides, it will invite Volvo Ocean Race, one of the world three races, to Busan, to help attract tourists and activate local economy in Busan.

Volvo Ocean Race calls for a journey on board a yacht covering 59,200km circling around the globe. The race is known for being too long and tough to run the full course, comparable to Mt. Everest climbing.

Introducing an international yacht school program, SUTL will make Korea’s own tail-made yacht school program as world-recognized and endeavor to bring up marina specialists through international training and internship.

Since established in 1965, SUTL Group is running 21 marina clubs in 11 countries over the world as an investor and manager in leisure service development while running the Asia-top class marina club, “Singapore One Degree 12 Marina Club.”

“BNP Marina will be the first domestic marina project under foreign investment as a model case to be activated at the beginning stage,” No Gi-Tae, president of BPA said. “With this, we will do our best to complete BNP redevelopment projects without fail.”
