PanStar Group launches first service calling at Nagoya Japan
Wednesday, November 29, 2017, 10:09:58 Paul Yoon ckyoon7@paran.com
PanStar Group (chaired by Hyeon-Kyeom Kim), currently running a high-speed cargo ship and international ferry passenger ferry ship service between Korea and Japan, has first sent a high-speed Ro-Ro cargo ship calling at Nagoya, Japan.

PanStar Line Co., Ltd., a local subsidiary of PanStar Group based in Japan, said that it launched 1000hrs on Nov. 28 at Nagoya ‘SanStar Dream’, a high-speed Ro-Ro cargo ship of 11,82ton class in presence of ranking officials from the group at a ceremony.

This is the first time that PanStar Group has sent a Ro-Ro ship, not a containership calling at Nagoya on liner service. Nagoya is the sixth Japan’s port in addition to Osaka, Tokyo, Tsuruga and Kanazawa where the shipping line is calling at.

PanStar has decided to send the Ro-Ro ship calling at Nagoya in addition to the existing service linking Shidao with Busan of Korea and Tokyo of Japan, starting the deployment of ‘Sanstar Dream’ from Nov. 28. The calling ports in geographic rotation are Nagoya (Tue)-Busan Newport (Wed-Thur)-Shidao, China (Fri)-Busan Newport (Sat)-Tokyo (Mon)-Nagoya (Tue).

She calls at Nagoya at 8a.m. every Tuesday and leaves the port at 2p.m., arrives at Shidao in 3 days from leaving Nagoya and clears customs the same day, boasting of express shipping service rivaled with air service.

PanStar is scheduled to replace the existing ship for the service of Shidao-Busan-Japan with ‘PanStar Genie’ of 7,320gt class Ro-Ro Cargo ship to be taken over in next mid-Dec.

Meanwhile, the idea of decision to call at Nagoya as new port comes from the fact that the areas nearby Nagoya lacks export-import routes for transport of raw material and finished products. The major cargoes Nagoya deals with are all kinds of industry material, LCD panels and precision machines including parts for cars and machineries.
