SM Line acquires ISO certificates for safety and health
Tuesday, November 28, 2017, 19:32:34 Paul Yoon ckyoon7@paran.com
SM Line, Korean flag ocean-going shipping player, announced that it has obtained the latest ISO certificates for quality, environment, safety and health.

SM Line said that it had received on Nov. 24 at its head-office located at Yeouido, Seoul from Korean Register the management system certificates including ISO9001 (Quality), ISO14001 (Environment), OHSAS18001 (Health & Safety) at a ceremony. The ceremony took place in the day in presence of CEO Chil-bong KIM of SM Line and Chairman & CEO Lee Jeong-kie of KR.

Usually a shipping line has to prepare a great amount of data in order to obtain international standard certificates. SM Line has finalized certificate inspection on its own through its all-out efforts made across the company without relying on outsourced consultancy with the purpose of lifting up its image as a Korean flag long-haul shipping player.

Chairman & CEO Lee Jeong-kie of KR said: “SM Line, launched this year as a new shipping line, has acquired international standard certificates within a short span of time purely on the back of its employees’ efforts, from which we have felt its potentiality. SM Line’s successful certification will offer a good model reference to other Korean flag shipping lines which have to renew ISO certificates due next year.”

In particular, ISO9001 and ISI14001 certified on this occasion are the latest versions of 2015, based on which all other Korean flag shipping players should renew their ISO certificates by Sept. next year.

A SM Line official disclosed its hopes, citing: “The successful ISO certification was the fruitful results of the coordinated efforts made by all our employees. We are expected to be more trusted as a shipping line by our customers over the world under the renewed ISO certification.”
