IPA (Inchon Port Authority) announced on July 9 that ‘Majestic Princess’, a mega ferry passenger ship controlled by Princess Cruise, had entered Incheon’s provisional cruising terminal at 1200hrs on July 7

‘Majestic Princess’ has carried out her sea-trial operation until the last mid-May from the end of last March when she was officially delivered from an Italian shipyard.

IPA and Princess Cruise Korea presented a briefing at a ceremony including an onboard guide tour, jointly throwing a reception party to about 150 important guests invited from domestic tourist agents, media and other related organizations. The welcoming events included the official reception announcement, an official dinner party, and an on-board tour.

IPA said that a big scale welcoming party was thrown to guests invited from related organizations including Port Authority and tourist service agents. The participants in the reception party have decided to find a solution to revitalizing the frozen tourist markets due to Chinese government’s latest prevention of Chinese tourists from touring around to South Korea.

Anthony H. Kaufman, Vice Chairman of Princess Cruise added, “We keep an eye on growth in Asian cruising markets ahead and concentrate on the Asian markets, also considering Incheon as one of the attractive tourist ports.”

‘Majestic Princess’ had left Rome in Italy on last May 21 on a 49 day world-wide cruising journey, touring around Europe, Southwest and Southeast Asia, and Japan. She left Osaka, Japan and arrived earlier at Incheon on July 7 and departed from Incheon for Shanghai, China, next destination at 2200hrs on the same day after passengers had returned from sight-seeing at Seoul and Paju near DMZ area.

‘Majestic Princess’ is a mega cruising passenger ship of 140,000gt class measuring her height equivalent to a 19th floor building, capable of accommodating 3,560 passengers. It is understood to have taken two years to build her, costing about 718 billion won for her investment. In particular, she boasts of making new records in cruising passenger ship providing every kind of service equipped with proper facilities dedicated to Asian passengers.
