CJ Korea Express wins AEO
Friday, January 20, 2017, 20:09:29 Paul Yoon ckyoon7@paran.com
CJ Korea Express (Korea Express) based in South Korea has received a certification of AEO (Authorized Economic 0perator) from KCS (Korea Customs Service).

AEO certification is the international standards, a customs service system set up by WCO (World Customs Organization) giving preferential treatment to excellent forwarders who have best complied with customs-related law and safety control regulations reinforced since 9.11 terrors in the U.S.

Customers of Korea Express which has won AEO can benefit from express service in customs clearance and from simplified import inspection in forwarding.

According to KCS, the reality is that AEO-certified forwarders take 3hrs 54 minutes to customs-clear in China instead of 10hrs 17 minutes average consumed by those without AEO certification while customs inspection rate for imported goods into U.S. handled by AEO-certified forwarders stands at 0.7% of total imports by skipping customs inspection and under automatic customs clearance against 3% of total imports handled by forwarders without AEO certificates.

Korea Express has worked hard since last year, operating a special devoted team to obtain AEO certification for customs-clearance, and as a result, received A-grade certification from KCS after its thorough documentation and sweeping site survey.

Also, Korea Express had acquired the first AEO certificate from KCS in 2011 in the forwarding sector and then another AEO certificate from KSC in 2015 in loading/unloading operation field in S. Korea as a complex logistics player.

A Korea Express official said: “AEO certification is the system certifying safety control in global exports-imports deals. Hence it is of a great significance that Korea Express has been internationally certified in safety and reliability of customs-clearance. We are expected to provide faster and safer service by simplifying import inspection procedures.”
