Dr. Chin-Seung Chung, director of APEC Climate Center (APCC), has been reappointed to serve for the second term. APCC unveiled on Apr. 12 that Dr. Chung has been reappointed in recruiting the 2nd Director for APCC. The APCC was established in 2010 under the agreement by APEC in 2005, and is playing a pivotal role in producing and conveying climate forecast information covering AP regions. Dr. Chung, who took office in Apr., 2010, as the first director of APCC, has successfully been renamed for the second term as credited for his outstanding service over the past three years including the recruits of excellent researchers, APEC climate forecast service, education and training for developing countries in climate, and international co-researches made.

Director Chin-Seung Chung gave a few words about his reappointment, “We will expand our climate service scope from the existing AP areas to the world. I will also strive best together with all my staff workers to develop climate service technologies contributing to the upgraded quality in national development and in people’s life.”

Director Chung participated in preparing UNCED (United Nations Conference on Environment and Development) as Korea’s representative in 1988, and acted as an adviser to Korean government participating in the UNCED held in Brazil in 1992. He also represented the Korean government participating in adoption of Kyoto Protocol stipulating Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction in 1997.
