Ki-tack Lim, new president of Busan Port Authority (BPA) took office at an inaugural ceremony on July 17 at BPA Office Building at Joongang-dong, Joong-gu, Busan, in presence of about 100 people including BPA Committee members and BPA employees.

“I feel a strong sense of responsibility, understanding how much big efforts have been paid by so many people until Busan Port has become one of the world-top five container ports,” said newly-appointed President Lim in an inaugural speech, stressing, “Let us join forces to win through all hardships wisely, bracing up for economic crisis caused by Euro debt woes.”

“I will do my best as president of BPA to make BPA, logistics hub of North East Asia, the hope for new regional economy and the global brand of pride from Korea,” he said, citing his aspirations in years ahead.

As 4th president of BPA, president Lim takes a heavy responsibility as he should play a leading role in handling various issues such as completion of North Port Redevelopment Project over next three years as scheduled, timely completion of New Port construction, and the formation of logistics complex in the hinterland and inducement of T/S cargo for Busan.

New president Lim comes from Masan City, Gyeongnam. He graduated from Korea Maritime University and World Maritime University. He also took office as head of Marine Accidents Inquiry Agency. Furthermore, rarely as a civil servant, he worked at Korean Embassy in Great Britain and at IMO office, and is appraised to have gained rich overseas experience with his outstanding career.
